As a building physics specialist, you assess plans, models, and calculations based on key performance aspects such as energy consumption, comfort, ventilation, acoustics, lighting, and sustainability. You evaluate whether designs comply with current standards and regulations — and whether they are technically feasible.

You’re involved from the design phase all the way through to execution. You provide second opinions, carry out inspections, and advise on improvements. In doing so, you contribute directly to buildings that are safe, comfortable, and future-proof.

    About Seconed

    Seconed is the independent assessment partner for high-risk construction projects (such as CC3). We don’t build ourselves. Instead, we assess whether others do it right — technically, in terms of building physics, structural design, fire safety, installations, and legal compliance.
    From bridges and tunnels to hospitals, airports, and distribution centers: our projects are technically demanding, often large in scale, and always socially significant. In these projects, mistakes are not an option. We deliver certainty before construction starts.

    You’ll work in a compact team of specialists who thoroughly review and assess projects together. You collaborate closely with colleagues from five disciplines to ensure that designs are sound — not only on paper but also in practice.

    What You'll Do

    • Assess building designs for physical performance (EPG, TOjuli, daylight, acoustics, etc.)
    • Evaluate compliance with current laws and regulations (such as BBL and relevant NEN standards)
    • Identify risks and advise on improvement measures
    • Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams (structural, installations, fire safety, regulatory)
    • Conduct on-site inspections
    • Provide second opinions on design or execution questions
    • Optionally contribute to international projects within the SECO Group

    What You Bring

    • A degree (HBO or MSc) in Architecture, Physics, Climate & Management, or a related field
    • At least a few years of experience in building physics and a strong ambition to grow further
    • Solid knowledge of building physics principles and relevant laws and standards
    • Analytical skills and a practical mindset
    • Clear communicator — able to make complex topics understandable
    • Proficient in Dutch, and preferably English as well
